Marvin's on the move

SALISBURY City has confirmed that striker Marvin Brown has been released from his contract.

Brown, who netted more than a dozen goals in approximately 40 appearances for the club, is understood to be re-joining Weston-super-Mare, from whom he signed for the Whites towards the end of the 2006/07 season.

Brown was among the players to turn pro at the Ray Mac at the start of the club's debut Blue Square Premier campaign.

A series of niggling injuries restricted his appearances for the club, however he often proved highly effective coming off the bench to bolster the City attack.

He was placed on the transfer list at the end of the 2007/08 campaign and is believed to also have attracted interest from Weston's Blue Square South rivals Worcester City and Havant & Waterlooville.

Meanwhile, former City defender Oli Barnes has completed his move to Worcester City - becoming manager Richard Dryden's fourth summer signing.

Dryden was impressed by Barnes' performance in their pre-season friendly against Cheltenham Town on Saturday and told the Worcester News: "Ollie's attitude is absolutely fantastic. He works hard and wants to do well and he's another one who hasn't come just for money.

"He's a great asset to us and he belies his age. He's dominant in the air and he's very comfortable on the ball.

"He's composed, confident and he's played against some good strikers in the Cheltenham match and looked very good."
