South Wilts through to next round
SOUTH Wilts' reward for defeating Andover in their Southern Electric Premier League Twenty/20 contest is an away trip to Totton & Eling.
A sizeable crowd turned out for Sunday's first round tie which would certainly have pleased the organisers who decided that Twenty/20 was the way ahead for the league's traditional cup competition.
Batting first, South Wilts posted 136-9, thanks to top order runs from Tom Morton, 24, James Hibberd, 35, and Eddie Abel, 27.
Mark Miller, with 3-23, and Uwe Birkenstock, 2-9, were the pick of the Andover bowlers.
The visitors never quite managed to keep up with the run-rate as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Ross Crick, 2-27, and Rob Wade, 2-15, contributed to Andover's decline - they ultimately finished 26 runs short on 110-7.
South Wilts' second round tie with Totton & Eling takes place on Sunday, July 27 (3pm start).
