New man heads up Wilton Rotary
WILTON Rotary Club has a new man at the helm after Tim Page was unveiled as the club's new president.
Tim, who takes over from outgoing president, David Huckfield, began his year in office by paying tribute to the work carried out by his predecessor over the past 12 months.
He said: "During David's year the club has been very busy serving the community.
"There have been a number of charities and groups who have benefited from help from the Wilton Rotary Club in the last year.
"Locally, these include: Wilton Scouts, Exeter House School, Wilton and Barford School, Naomi House, the Stars Appeal, Cancer Research, Salisbury Trust for the Homeless, St John Ambulance, Shopmobility, Riding for the Disabled, Salisbury Lifestyles,
Wilton Mayor's Appeal and many more.
"Internationally, the club has helped the Rotary Flood Appeal, Children's Homes (India), Goodwill Homes (India), Raleigh International, Water Aid in Uganda and provided emergency shelter kits for displaced people in Burma and China.
"After essential costs, all funds go to charity and with great support from the public, we were able to raise some £20,000 in the last 12 months, of which 87 per cent went to local beneficiaries."
This year, the club hopes to continue its efforts and plans to host its annual cycle ride, car boot sale and the Spireworks Fireworks Display.
