"Green exercise" project launched
PEOPLE at risk of mental health difficulties can get help through a new "green exercise" project.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Wiltshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) are setting up the project to offer physical activity outdoors in Wiltshire.
Maggie Rae, joint director of public health for Wiltshire Primary Care Trust and Wiltshire County Council said: "Wiltshire is a relatively affluent and healthy county but we do have areas in which the population is more likely to suffer from poor health.
"This innovative project will complement the work that the PCT is already doing to tackle health inequalities.
"This project aims to build on the good evidence underpinning green exercise by encouraging people to make more of Wiltshire's countryside to improve health."
The project will run for 18 months, offering activities in a supportive environment.
