Southern electic seeks public opinion
THE company which owns and operates the local electricity distribution network, Southern Electric Power Distribution (SEPD), is asking members of the public for their views on what is important to them in respect of their electricity supply network.
Mike Barlow, SEPD's System Manager, said: "Our top priority is to operate a safe and reliable electricity network. Between 2005 and 2010, the company expects to invest £750 million extending and upgrading the distribution network, to ensure required capacity and to reduce the number and duration of power cuts. Currently we're looking ahead to what work we should be doing between 2010 and 2015 to further improve the service we provide for our customers. It's only right that, as part of this process, we should ask them what's important to them.
"For some customers, reducing the number of power cuts is important, whilst for others the visual impact of overhead lines in environmentally sensitive areas might be a higher priority. Whatever their views, we're keen to hear from anyone who has an interest."
A range of environmental and network performance issues are considered on SEPD's website, and members of the public are invited to submit their comments at www.ssepd.co.uk/Sections/CustomerServices/HaveYourSay.aspx
