Battle to stop Laverstock phone mast
PROTESTORS have lost the first stage of their campaign to prevent a new 40ft phone mast being put up in Laverstock.
More than 50 residents have written to Salisbury District Council to register their complaints about a proposal to site the Vodafone mast on land at Cow Lane, which they say would be unsightly and too near local schools.
But at a meeting of the council's southern area committee on Thursday members voted to recommend an application for prior approval for the site is granted by the planning and regulatory committee.
If prior approval is granted on the council-owned land it will pave the way for a detailed planning application to be submitted by the phone company.
