THERE were some camel capers for the mayor of Wilton as he hosted a charity party to give his appeal a leg up.
Andrew Kinsey climbed aboard Lady Chichester's camel Therese at the event held at Wilton House on Saturday night.
More than 120 guests enjoyed a battle re-enactment from the Armoured Plate Society, music from Wilton Royal British Legion Band and a barber shop quartet.
They also had the chance to try their hand at some archery and admire Therese, who was dressed in her finery for the party.
The event raised £600 for the Wilton Education Charity Trust, which provides grants for young people in the town to help towards their education as well as supporting local schools.
"It was a lovely night and the first time we had held something like this in Wilton," said mayoress Alexandra Kinsey.
"The staff at Wilton House were wonderful and we are now looking forward to all the other events we've got planned for the appeal."
