French market set to return

NEXT month will see Salisbury once more embracing the Joie de vivre' as Brunomart's French and Continental Market returns to the city on September 11 and 12.

Shoppers will be able to sample the tantalising tastes and aromas of distinctive French fare, including the delicious smell of freshly baked bread from the patisserie, traditionally cured meats, Corsican sausages and mouth-watering produce from the charcuterie, combined with famous cheeses from all corners of the continent.

The sweet-toothed among us will be well catered for, with hand made chocolates, Brioche and fresh crepes with Grand Marnier and chocolate topping guaranteed to get your taste buds doing the Can Can.' The market will also appeal to the more calorie conscious shopper with traditional ceramics, bath oils and North African inspired Tangines adding to the eclectic mix of produce on offer.

With the Market Place design competition launched on August 14 to regenerate the historic heart of the city, it is hoped that the city will soon begin to welcome more events like the French Market, where people can meet and greet, relax with friends and enjoy specialist shopping opportunities.

Councilor Peter Edge, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Tourism at Salisbury District Council, has no doubts over the potential of the Market Place, he said: "The aim is to create a grand square to rival any in Europe, a beautiful multi-functional space within the core of our historical city where families and friends can enjoy each others company in inspirational surroundings."
